Keith Copeland is respected as one of the finest performers, teachers and clinicians of his generation. Mr. Copeland has worked with countless jazz greats including Billy Taylor, George Russell, Bill Evans, the Heat Brothers, Jo Ann Brackeen, Harry “Sweets” Edison, Slide Hampton, Johnny Griffin, Frank Foster. He has played in the National Jazz Ensemble and The Collective of Black Artists Repertory Orchestra.
He has accompanied the Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Billy Eckstine, Cab Calloway, Eartha Kitt, and many other vocal artists. He was a member of Stevie Wonder’s road band for a year, touring Europe and the United States.
In addition to numerous recording and television appearances, Keith has taught at Berklee College and The Drummers Collective. He is currently a clinician of the Eastman School of Music Summer Jazz Workshop and teaches at Long Island University, Rutgers University, as well as at his Upper West Side studio in New York City.
